Author Lemony Snicket once wrote that how you spend your morning can often tell what kind of day you’re going to have. Are you ready to escape the endless snooze-shower-commute purgatory? Consider adopting these habits to get a sense of accomplishment, all before your morning coffee.
Disconnect: Diving into emails and Facebook right out of bed might be cluttering your head before the workday has even started.
Exercise: Getting moving. In as little as 10 minutes, your body releases GABA, a neurotransmitter that makes your brain feel soothed and helps impulse control. While exercising daily provides more energy and a positive outlook, breaking into the ungodly routine from pillow to pushups will take some discipline.
Meditate: Along with exercise, having a mindfulness practice will reduce stress, boost creativity and help your focus.
Set Goals: Making a list of the most important things you need to do throughout the day will solidify your focus and lead to a higher likelihood of getting stuff done.
Eat a healthy breakfast: Sorry, but it’s time to permanently shelve the Pop-Tarts and Cocoa Puffs. Having a healthy breakfast stabilizes blood-sugar levels, will help decrease appetite throughout the day and will improve concentration.
