6 Skills That Will Get You Hired

Have you given numerous interviews but are still unemployed? Well, there could be a reason behind it. There may be a few things that you are doing wrong. Here are six things that will get you hired.
You have the necessary qualification for your desired job. You seem to posses the required skills and you have been to various interviews. But why are you still unemployed? You have perfected your resume and you gave your best shot at the interview, but there has been something about you that didn’t impress the interviewer as much. Clearly, you have failed to showcase your qualities in the right manner.

Anyway, you need a job, you want a job and we are here to help you with that. Mentioned below are six things that will help you get hired. Have a look at the points and try and incorporate the skills you seem to lack.

1. Problem Solving Abilities: During an interview, you need to showcase your abilities of indentifying intricate problems. You need to show the interview that you can reassess information in order to develop and evaluate options and are capable of implementing and executing your solutions to a problem.

2. Active Listening: Active listening is a very important attribute that every jobseeker should possess. By active listening we mean that you should give your full attention to what the interviewer is saying. You should take your time in understanding the points he/she is making and should be able to ask appropriate questions without interrupting the person who is speaking.

3. Critical Thinking: Many interviewers try and pose critical questions in front of the candidate. This is to judge the jobseeker on their ability to think and find quick solutions to a problem. If you happen to face a similar situation, you should use reasoning and ample amount of logic while you find a solution for an issue. If you have more than one solution then you should identify the strengths and weakness of the various alternatives at your disposal and come up with the best possible solution.

4. Decision Making: Like critical thinking questions, you may also have to face questions that showcase your decision making ability. Listening to your gut is nice, but if asked a question where you have to make a choice between options in front of the interviewer, you should have a logical answer when asked why you chose a particular option. “Because, my gut says so...” is not a very appropriate response. If the interviewer recognizes your quality of strong decision making, you are most likely to get listed in the ‘hiring’ list.

5. Leadership: Employers give priority to candidates who showcase leadership qualities. You need not be applying for the post of a CEO, President or even a manager but, you have to understand that leaders are found in all levels of an organization. If you can exhibit to your prospect employer that you posses a strong sense of work ethic and personal pride, it will work to your advantage. During the interview give examples of how you took initiatives to do new things and worked towards improvising the new ones, in order to make the system more effective for the organization you previously worked at.

6. Positivity and Adaptability: A smile can change things for the positive. Yes, you have heard it time and again and it’s true! When you have a bright smile on your face, it emits positivity. Nobody wants to be around or work with a person who releases negativity and dullness.

If the interviewer asks you ‘Would you like to learn to work on a new format?’ or says that you would have to learn a new programme, respond with a ‘Yes, I’d love to.’ By doing so, you display resilience and adaptability. Trust us when we say that everybody likes working with a person who is flexible and open to new learning and challenges.
